When I wrote my last post I didn’t intend on posting the individual chapters of The Master’s Indwelling by Andrew Murray. However, upon reflection it occurred to me that Andrew Murray is best digested in small doses. Andrew Murray (1828-1917) was an amazingly prolific Christian author. He lived and ministered as both a pastor and a writer from the towns and villages of South Africa. All of his publications were originally written in Dutch and then translated into English. During his lifetime alone, Murray’s books were translated into twelve foreign languages. His writings are as relevant today as they were when he first wrote them.
My first experience with an Andrew Murray book was a devotional on John 15:1-16, The True Vine. I was just learning how to walk in union with Christ and Murray’s book was a guiding light. From that time on I was hooked on anything from Andrew Murray, I could get my hands on. Murray wrote from the perspective of the abiding life, Christ residing internally in the believer. His insight into the life of Christ and Holy Spirit resident in the life of the believer were not only stepping stones and building blocks in my life, but challenges to pursue intimacy with Christ.
Andrew Murray wrote over 200 books and pamphlets, many on holiness and the deeper life. His books include The Spirit of Christ, The Indwelling Spirit, Absolute Surrender, Humility, Abide in Christ, The Deeper Christian Life, The School of Obedience, Waiting on God, The Ministry of Intercession, The New Life, With Christ in the School of Prayer, The Two Covenants and the Second Blessing, and more.

I pray that your hearts will be flooded with light so that you can understand the confident hope he has given to those he called—his holy people who are his rich and glorious inheritance. also pray that you will understand the incredible greatness of God’s power for us who believe him. This is the same mighty power that raised Christ from the dead and seated him in the place of honor at God’s right hand in the heavenly realms. Ephesians 1:18-20 NLT
I pray you are blessed,
